Our first stop after Halifax was Lunenburg staying at the Pelham House. We had the pleasure of staying here for two nights and truly wish we stayed longer. The house and the rooms were well kept and clean. Filled with cool little artifacts and history, walking through the hallways and rooms was like visiting your grandmother (the cool world traveling one, not the grouchy one with the stinky breath). Michael and David were also absolute gems and ever so friendly but astutely unobtrusive. Beyond these great points which would have already made this place great, the breakfasts' Michael whipped up were absolutely phenomenal. Notifying David and Michael that I had an allergy to dairy and eggs prior to coming, they ensured there was a fantastic menu of allergen free breakfast items for me. This included things like vegetable frittatas with vegan cream sauce, vegan baked goods and lemon blueberry pancakes. My boyfriend who didn't have any allergies enjoyed similar items but with the standard ingredients like lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. Words can't even do justice to how beautifully these items were prepared and served (with edible flowers!). But, trust me when I say the two breakfasts here were some of the best meals we had during our entire trip through Nova Scotia. Unlike many of the other B&B's we visited who had mass prepared food for self-service, breakfasts were cooked as people came in and served individually.

Pelham House feels like a home away from home. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with GREAT beds! (one of the most important factors for me). The two back rooms face out onto the harbour so you get a nice water view. You get a partial view even from the front rooms too, and the convenient location makes it a great base for exploring Lunenburg and surrounds. Breakfast can be different every day - as Fay will ask you what your preferences are, and as she mostly buys local and organic products, it's always fresh and healthy - even the home-made waffles!!

I would absolutely come back here and urge anyone to also do so. The passion Michael and David have for their property and business is apparent and they truly care for their guests. In fact, we ar considering staying at their Mexico property in Sayulita as well!

Also resident at the B&B are two cats - Ben and Bill and a lovely dog, named Drum. As I have pets of my own, I really liked having them around and found it made it feel more homey. All in all, Pelham House has proven to be an excellent place to stay, with a host who's always cheerful and who's been an great source of local information.

Honestly, if I could give them a 5.5 stars, I would. My husband and I stayed at the Pelham House in early September and we absolutely loved our stay. David and Michael (and Harry) were wonderful hosts and it was quite obvious that they loved their home and having guests stay over. I noticed a lot of little attentions that are not always obvious such as the complementary glass of port in the living room/boudoir, the fresh flowers on the dining room table, the power bar in the bedrooms, the pretty dinnerware and glassware etc etc. A lot of little details. Being surrounded by antique items and furniture in this beautiful home was wonderful. The rooms were very spacious, the beds were very comfortable. Not a speck of dust to be seen. The breakfast was WAY beyond what I would have expected at any B&B. The fact that both Michael and David spoke English as well as French was a pleasant "bonus" for us :) Overall, there is no question we will return to Pelham House if we ever have the opportunity.

Beautiful accomodations and was certainly pleasant owners and was everything and more for a Bed & Breakfast. The breakfast was a 5 ☆ gourmet breakfast made by the chef of the house. Will definitely be back again.

This B&B is run by two fantastic men: David & Michael. They are so helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, and they are guaranteed to make your stay in Lunenburg comfortable and packed full of things to do. David & Michael have been running this B&B for only a few years - any reviews earlier than 2012 don't count so please don't let them affect your decision to stay here. This B&B is beautiful and fantastically run. You won't be sorry!

To be quite honest, I am conflicted about how to write this review because Pelham House was such a double edged sword for us. While it was undoubtedly the best B&B we stayed in during our road trip through Nova Scotia, it absolutely ruined every other B&B for us!
